Cornelia Connolly is a Computer Engineer and a Professor at the School of Education. Her teaching, grant capture and publication record demonstrate the international excellence of her research which is multi-disciplinary by nature, drawing from related disciplines of education, technology, and computing to create engaging learning experiences, understand knowledge transfer to facilitate behavioural change in a variety of contexts. Her prior experience in industry, as a computer engineer and management consultant informs her research. Dr Connolly co-founded and was Director of a University spin-out company, which developed a national portal for higher education providers. She has attracted over €4m in direct research funding to the University of Galway as Principal Investigator and has been involved in national and European project consortia that collectively total over €21m. Dr Connolly is a Fellow and Chair of the International Society for Design and Development in Education (ISDDE); a Funded Investigator of Lero, the SFI Research Centre for Software; and a Senior Researcher with the UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre. Cornelia was a Visiting Fellow at the School of Computer Science at Yale University for 2023.
