Brian Deegan received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Limerick in 2004 and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Limerick in 2005.
He received a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2011. The focus of his research was the relationship between blood pressure and cerebral blood flow in humans, and he has several journal publications, a patent, and a number of conference presentations in this area.
From 2011 to 2022, he worked at Valeo Vision Systems as a Vision Research Engineer focusing on Image Quality. His main research focus was on high dynamic range imaging, LED flicker, topview harmonization algorithms, and the relationship between image quality and machine vision. Since 2014, he has been an official Valeo Expert on Image Quality. He has multiple patents relating to automotive image quality and has presented at a number of conferences.
In 2022, he joined the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at NUI Galway as a Lecturer and Researcher.
