Dr. Fiona Gilchrist – R&D Strategy Lead for Jaguar Land Rover’s R&D Software Engineering Centre in Shannon, Co. Clare. As part of the Commercial team in Shannon, she manages the IDA RDI grant in addition to the R&D tax credit claims and technical write ups which support the claims.
She has broad expertise within the pharmaceutical, engineering & life science sectors. Fiona’s previous roles have included a combination of project management of key R&D projects at Universities in the UK and Ireland. Fiona’s expertise includes applications for EU projects with a large consortium of industrial partners in addition to Enterprise Ireland feasibility grants, Innovation partnerships and commercialisation fund programmes.
Fiona has also broad experience in managing the identification and capture of intellectual property arising from EU, EI and SFI State funded research projects. A BSc in Biological Sciences, MSc in Environmental Biotechnology, PhD in Chemical Engineering and significant post doctorate experience in the development of Point of Care & Genomic technologies on a start-up Company basis. Valuable combination of academic, start-up commercial, business development, event management, training expertise, local and external outreach activities, mentorship and funding agency expertise.
She has considerable experience in managing industry focused projects for both MNCs & SMEs and contract research projects, technology assessment and implementation, writing business plans, board level communication, intellectual property assessment and due diligence.
Furthermore, very strong background in liaising with National, EU and International funding agencies, government & inter-government bodies (Enterprise Ireland, IDA & SFI).
Fiona is a key advocate of STEM, mentoring secondary school students and placement of transition year students.
